The Law of Perspective
Today I see from here to there, up and down,
forward and backward, so that my point
of view is ever changing and never stagnant.
The Law of Perspective states that every person has a unique point of view or attitude which is relative to their personal belief. As belief changes, perspective changes. Life is how you perceive it. Saint Thomas Aquinas’s stated that anyone could decide what is truth and that they didn’t have to do something if they felt it went against natural law. At the time this was a liberating idea on many levels for the people. It indicated that a person’s perspective determined their own truth.
How you perceive your experiences is important when examining your life. Your perspective determines how you think about something, your reaction to it, and whether you will take action for or against it. Perspective affects your reality every single day. It gives you the opportunity to choose to be positive or negative in your actions based on how you perceive situations. Your perspective affects your emotions. It makes you look forward to an event, or dread it. You can be excited, enthusiastic, or over the moon about a relationship, or you can be distrustful, pessimistic, or simply over it. Perspective can make you curious, engaging, fearful, delighted, competitive, compassionate, and generally affects every human emotion and determines the emotions you feel towards situations and other people.
The key to using perspective to get what you want in life is to use it to see multiple points of view. It’s putting yourself in someone else’s shoes, it’s thinking out of the box, and it’s changing your thoughts to change your reality. It’s using perspective to put yourself in the driver’s seat and taking charge of your life instead of riding along as a passenger watching the scenery go by. It’s expanding your world view to encompass more information. Perspective can help you during difficult times or when you feel like you can’t move forward in life. Contemplating how to get unstuck from a different perspective offers new ideas that can propel you out of the rut and into a higher frequency where you welcome change to get you going again.
Your level of consciousness and your connection to your spiritual self determines how your experiences will happen every single day. If you’re in an upbeat mood you will tend to see things in a positive manner which will make your day flow easily and with less stress. But if you’ve had lack of sleep, are overwhelmed, stressed or exhausted, then these will factor into your perspective and can make things that would otherwise be positive, seem negative. Your perspective changes from day to day based upon external factors. If you’re doing too much and not getting enough rest, then you need to make changes so you have less on your plate and are able to get enough sleep. When you’re tired, molehills can become mountains and a glass will seem half-empty instead of half-full.
